Bartercard announced as winner of 1000 hour project:
You may remember a couple of months ago DraftFCB announced its 1000 Hours project   – donating 1000 hours of its time ($200,000) to help prop up businesses in the recession. The winner of the 1000 hours is Bartercard and it’s a win that will have a knock-on effect, as the company helps small to medium-sized enterprises by facilitating a trade exchange network for effective business conduct.

Competition was stiff, and Bartercard’s potential to impact positively on many other businesses tipped it in its favour. It holds more than 6500 businesses in its network since launching here in 1992. FCB CEO Bryan Crawford said Bartercard’s unique proposition would provide a strong opportunity to help New Zealand’s SMEs, many of whom are struggling. “It was Bartercard’s commitment to help support SMEs and save jobs across New Zealand that appealed to us and we feel the company is the right fit for the objectives of the DraftFCB 1000 Hours project.”  Mr Crawford has high hopes the project will save many struggling businesses through the Bartercard selection.

FCB had more than 100 expressions of interest about the project and 30-plus applications. Moreover, many other outfits have offered up additional pro-bono contributions, including ACP, Adshel, APN Outdoor and TradeMe. The 1000 hours includes skills and services from DraftFCB including strategic planning, creative development, media planning and buying and account management, but not production costs or any non-FCB services.
